i get deep, i get deep, i get deeper. that should actually read he gets deep. dj roland clark, that is one of the rulers of the sermonizing vocal, roland steps up to the pulpit once again with his latest release, black in my soul, on king street. this man not only has black in his soul but also an excellent sense of humor, including the ability to work it into his productions, and thats something we all have time to appreciate. swedish producer extraordinaire tiger stripes pumps us full of his dark fuel creating an intricate, nicely rhythmic and dancefloor dramatic track. his dub vox retains its deep and dark stature but twist synths rolands voice into a fiendish narrator. west coast producer david hernandez funkifies this tune on his deep west mix but keeps the deepness well intact. say it loud and dance proud!

the new release on the mojuba sublabel features two classic and timeless moments of dutch techno music. the main track >spadet< was also one of the chosen tracks for the legendary x-mix by kevin master reese saunderson on studio k7!, and even after more than a decade since its original release, there are still goosebumps while hearing the magnificent sounds of that tune! the b-side might be less know but it still captures that special feeling and the power of true detroit techno which never left our hearts. the whole package was remastered to today’s standards by no other than the sound connoisseur monsieur redshape!

a decade usually consists of ten pieces, years or days. the decade of techno comprises of 10 releases made by 9 carefully selected producers who shaped the last ten years of techno with their unique sounds. looking back at the last 10 years, techno made a thoroughly multifaceted development. new styles developed out of the old ones, never losing sight of the main principle. this development will be reflected on the decade of techno series, whereas label owner kaoz attached importance to account for every facet of techno.

these hand-picked tracks are now available on a dj-friendly 2-sided-4-tracks-vinyl-ep and let me tell you, they are well worth the extra investment. the first of the bunch starts off with big man lexys fancy girl, an ever-growing minimal techy peak-time-pusher with a hushed vocal-sample, some anaologue signal sounds and a futuristic and pumping beat. add a great distorted melody to this on the breakdown and the dancefloor will thank you for putting this on: they will go mental! after this introduction, its the newcomers mickey monzza & joseph discos turn with their equally stimulating track lonely. this is a great modern piece of pumping dub techno with a straight-forward attitude. the hi-hats on this tune are mesmerezing, the clappy snares and sirens perfectly placed and the subtle dubby and groovy melody an ideal antithesis to this hectically moving tune. simply nice! but hold on, there is more to come. on the flip there is hamburgs house impressario h.o.s.h. with his track ben johnson and whether this title is a reference to the legendary sportsman or not, its a pretty record-worthy track: wonderful little stabs and vocal sounds and a bassline so warm and groovy it makes your heart melt. then when the breakdown hits you with its long and winding signal sound, the dancefloor will already be bathing in a floor filled with sweet happiness. this is truely delicious! the two newcomers and residents at hive club in zurich animaltrainer have the honour to finish off this ep with their oily tech-house-anthem talkshow, a superb main-floor-peak-time-melody-affair.

nice new berlin label with nice artwork and some sweet cosmic kraut disco. original mix is by grackle (aka galaxy toobin aka smeckulator) who dropped a nice minimalish sahko kind of cut. main tracks are basicly the sweet ass remixes by unit 4 who made a long slowly building track with an electronic kraut rock/disco groove and he managed to take things higher into the comsos as the track develope... nice job! the other very nice remix is by t. keeler who made a more disco-ish affair with nice lush grooves and warm balearic sounds. hot stuff for all the lindstrom, mudd, prins thomas, quiet village fans
